State Champs

Clemson finished the regular season undefeated, having downed South Carolina 37-32 in a contest we may remember as much for the Tigers’ mishaps as much as our critical plays.

Fumblitis struck, and allowed the Gamecocks and their fans to hang around the whole afternoon. Fortunately, Deshaun Watson’s play stood out and Clemson cruised to a comfortable win (5-point final margin notwithstanding).

Our recap:

On to UNC!

Orange by any other name

Clemson’s performance against a tough but manageable slate of opponents has yielded a #1 spot in both the AP poll and the College Football Playoff committee’s first 2 weeks of rankings. But, are the Tigers truly the best team in the country, and would we beat any of the other contenders straight up on a neutral field?

This week, the Syracuse Orange host Clemson for the second time since joining the ACC in 2013. Clemson hopes to continue its run and remain undefeated in the Carrier Dome.

With the start of November also comes the debut of Men’s Basketball. Many expect Clemson to compete for a deep run into March next year, but with the team playing games in Greenville, and questions throughout the roster, we examine what to expect this year.

9-0: Atlantic Champs!

Clemson improved to 9-0 after a decisive win over the Seminoles. Holding serve on the #1 ranking, this win sealed up the ACC Atlantic division, and solidified Clemson’s standing among the CFB elite. We broke down Saturday’s win, and discussed keys to the victory, and areas of focus in the lead-up to the ACCCG and a potential College Football Playoff run.

8-0: Survive, Advance, and Dance

Clemson overcame the Wolfpack’s best effort on Saturday, behind another stellar showing from the offense. Senior QB Jacoby Brissett gave the Venables defense all they could handle, and NC State’s coaches may have exposed some cracks in the armor of a top-10 defense. Special Teams was nearly a liability, so there’s clearly plenty of coachable moments to take away.

For now, let’s focus on the good — most of which revolves around Deshaun Watson’s success at the helm. If he continues to light the fuse on this offense, Clemson will be a tough out for any team in the country.
